Baby rattles urgently recalled over choking risk

Baby rattles which pose a choking or suffocation risk to young children have been recalled.

Four different products by Tuti Fruti Fun and Learning, including teethers and musical rattles, were included in the recall.

Wooden cartoon musical bell rattles, natural beechwood teether rattles, wooden rattles with coloured rings, and a set of four Montessori wooden rattles and teethers for babies by Tuti Fruti Fun and Learning were found to have breached safety standards, ACCC said.

The rattles do not comply with mandatory size requirements for children ages up to 36 months, and could cause death to young children.

“There is a risk of choking, suffocation or death to young children if they continue to use these rattles,” ACCC said.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the rattles then destroy the products.”

The products were available for purchase at Tuti Fruti Fun and Learning in Queensland and online for nearly three years, from June 3, 2020 to March 1, 2023.
